Go Where the Love Is!

Some people love a challenge when it comes to relationships. They tend to go after the person that is “interesting” or “different” and avoid the signs of incompatibility all the way along.

Regardless of where you are today, you can continue to grow.  You can learn new things.  You can become more. 

Your time is valuable. You are valuable. Don’t waste your time on relationships and people who don’t support you. Decide that you matter. Realize that when you choose to be with people that are interested in you and want you to be a success, those friends and family members are worth spending your time with. 

Look around you. Choose to spend your time with people that will help you get to your next goal. When you become more successful, you can help others become successful. You do not need to settle for where you are today. Just realize that your choices become the stepping stones to the pathway your life follows.

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day…let’s not forget the families who gave of their loved ones. The sacrifices they made were for a lifetime. Their lives have been altered forever.

How We Handle Endings


Do you know when you are finished with something?  Have you ever reached the point where you firmly believe that you have done the best you can, and that it is time to move on?  I think we all have had that experience in one form or another.  It can be positive, and a welcome change, or feel like you are being cut apart, and that you are losing a huge part of yourself in the process.


Let’s look at being “finished” as an opportunity for a new beginning.  It doesn’t have to be negative.  It is a time for growth.  Learn how to blossom in times of trials.  Don’t allow anyone to steal your joy.  Take the situation you are in and find something good that is happening, in spite of what seems to be difficult.


If you can change how you look at a situation, that appears to have been meant for your harm, know that it is preparing you for something much better!    “Now, let’s get going!” xo Sally

Forgive and Move On

People that are in our lives are there either by choice or by a relationship (usually family related), and we don’t have a choice about that. The old saying goes;
“You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family.”


One of the challenges with relationships is that people have different ways they communicate, and some of them can be inappropriate. Some can be hurtful. Some people that you come into contact with at work or socially can be so challenging that you have to remember that you have the power.


You have the power to let people stay in your circle of influence, or they can stand outside of it. But the issue of forgiveness goes much deeper.


People who have mattered in your life, and have treated you poorly, you certainly don’t want to maintain a relationship with. But harboring a grudge takes a lot of your good energy and wastes it.


Use your energy for good. There is truth to the statement that when someone leaves you, that has had a negative influence over your life, you need to be grateful for the “Gift of Goodbye.” Forgive them but keep moving forward.

Happy Mother's Day!

Mothers are amazing. They give more than they have, and then some.


I believe God created a learning opportunity when he gave women the ability to be mothers. He not only allowed us the opportunity to give love unconditionally, he enabled us to have a part in creating a person that has unlimited potential.


For those of you who do not have a biological mother that stood next to you, I am sure life gave you many opportunities to have others fill that space.


I had a wonderful role model for my mother, and I can only hope that I have done as well with my children. Life gives you a chance to be good to people every day.


 Don’t limit your expression of love and caring to once a year. Be present. Be hopeful. Do whatever you can to help your children be all they can be.   “Now, let’s get going!” xo Sally

Be Somebody

If we can keep one thing in mind this week, let it be our ability to realize that we all have the power to make each person we connect with today, feel like somebody.


That is a powerful thing. Do you realize how different you feel when someone smiles at you or opens a door for you, rather than when someone approaches you with a scowl, or doesn’t look at you when they talk to you? Pay attention to people. It just takes a second, and your co-workers, family and friends will notice.


 We pay more attention to our phones than the people around us. People are not communicating. They are co-existing. We were not meant to function like that.


You may feel lousy. You may feel like a big grouch. But if you just smile at each person you see, all day long, it will change you.


The best part is, you will feel like “a somebody” too.   "Now, let's get going!"  xo Sally



Since April is Parkinsons Disease Awareness Month, I wanted to extend my heartfelt blessings to all of you who are dealing with the challenges of this disease.  To the caregivers, I know that you are living this disease daily.  Your assistance is invaluable.

 Whether you are the patient, caregiver or family member, you need to believe that you are not only an important part of the team, you need to continue to be your own advocate, as tiring as it is.

 Here are a few reminders about medications, that are important to review:

1.  Keep good records of the medications you are currently using as well as the ones that have been used in the past, and the ones that didn't work.  There are forms on the web site to organize your medications.  If you had a bad side effect from a medication, write it down.  Remind your medical professionals about it, because they may not remember.

2.  Keep a current medication list in the glove compartment in your car.

3.  Keep track of whether your medications are working or if they are not.  By that I mean after you take your medication, how long does it take for you to feel like it is working?  When does it wear off?  All of that is important information for your doctor.  If you are taking a form of Carbidopa/Levodopa (generic, brand, or in Stalevo or Rytary), you should be able to tell a difference in your ability to move about approximately 45 minutes after you take your medication.  If you think that the medication you are taking for your Parkinsons' symptoms does nothing, then you need to make sure your doctor knows that.  If you do not think your doctor is paying attention to you, get another opinion.

Be an advocate for answers.  Do not settle for mediocrity.  Let us know if you are having these problems or concerns, and we can guide you to get more answers!  Always believe that you are worth it! xo Sally

Pocket Door Challenges

Here is something I came up with, to help a person with peripheral neuropathy in his hands.

He couldn't close a bathroom pocket door, because he couldn't grasp the metal piece that allows you to open and close it.

Not all pocket doors are the same, but consider trying something like this; a key ring attached to a clasp.  It worked for this guy and may work for someone you know!

Be Smart and Brave

Sometimes we hang on to things too long. It may be a job that is going nowhere, a relationship that is dysfunctional, or just being unwilling to agree that whatever we are doing is not working.


It is important to hold on to dreams. It is also important to recognize when you are not moving forward towards achieving those goals...to bring that dream closer to you.


To move forward, you have to be willing to reevaluate what happens in your day to day experiences. You have to become a good “sifter.”


You have to sift through the bad experiences, keep the good parts, and let the negative stuff go. Grow with your experiences. Live your best life. Let nothing get in your way.

Time Does Not Stand Still

There are times we wish time would just stand still. Those special moments when we are celebrating something exciting, or just enjoying a time that a loved one is feeling better and more present in our lives.


If we could just keep in mind that everything in life comes to us and moves through us, we might be able to learn how to appreciate the moments. That is one of the best parts about loving your life.


You can change your experiences. You can choose where you spend your time, your energy and decide what you want to focus on.


Take a step of faith today, and go after a dream or goal that you keep putting off. It won’t necessarily happen for you today, but put some energy towards it. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. You are amazing! Believe it!
