Stop Being Afraid

It is scary to try new things.  It makes us feel vulnerable and unsure.  That is normal, but don’t let it stop you.

When we let our fears control our choices, it prevents us from experiencing new things that could take us to our ultimate goals.

It is a vicious cycle that keeps us right where we don’t want to be.

Take the next few days to define what you are afraid of, and instead of continually telling yourself that you have no other choice, ask yourself this:

What would happen if I approach my life differently?  What is the worst thing that could happen? Chances are….you’ll never know until you try. Go for it!                        “Now, let’s get going!”  xo Sally

When Should We Give Up?

Giving up is not easy.  But when we have to “give up” on family members or friends, it is even harder.

If people in your life are not making good choices, and you find yourself getting dragged into their drama, ask yourself the following questions:

1.  Am I being affected by the drama that I agree to be involved in?

2.  Is the situation negatively affecting me and/or my family?

If the answer to either question is yes, then you need to back away.  Stop enabling a situation that is not changing with your involvement.  Spend your energy on more productive things.

It’s time to take an inventory of your goals, your time and your life.  Work on establishing positive outcomes.  You will be better for it! “Now, let’s get going!”  xo Sally

The Choices We Make

The Choices we make every day dictate what happens to us.  Whether we face the day with a smile or a frown; negative thoughts or optimism, it all starts with us.

The Chances we take - teach us.  They may teach us never to do that again, or they may open our eyes to new possibilities.  We have to take chances, because that is how we meet people, learn, and grow.

And that is how we Change what happens to us.  Pick positive people to associate with that you can learn from.  Put yourself around successful people that share your goals and aspirations.  Get involved in things outside of yourself.  Your life will take on new meaning.  Your gifts will matter.  You are amazing and can be part of a positive change for others.  “Now, let’s get going!”  xo Sally

Who Is Trying To Bring You Down?

People are different.  Isn’t it amazing how you can meet so many people, and you will rarely find two that think alike, act the same way, or believe the same things.

We are imperfect that is for sure.  But the good news is that you have all the power to choose your own thoughts, and act in ways that allow you to stand above the average person who makes excuses to stay where they are.

It is easier to join the mainstream.  It requires less energy and thought.  When you know what is right-do what is right.  When people give in and give up, a pattern of “What difference will it make ?” starts.

That isn’t you.  You are better than that.  Don’t fall in line with people who are not reaching higher.  Don’t allow yourself to lose your dignity.  Hold your head high.  You have bigger and better things that await you.  We are on your side…you are amazing.  You can do this.  “Now let’s get going!”  xo Sally

Nobody's Perfect

Do you stop yourself from progressing towards your goals, because you feel like you aren’t “good enough?”

Do you think that what you are able to do right now, is not nearly what you will have to do to meet your goals?

When you are on the road to change, there will be bumps along the way.  Some of your outcomes may not be perfect, but you will learn, and you will evolve.  You will make progress.  It may not seem to be fast enough for you, but it will happen.

There is never a “perfect” time to do something.  Some of our best experiences happen when we least expect it. We learn new things all the time.

Keep your eye on the prize.  Don’t give up or give in.  We don’t need to wait around for perfection.  Everyone’s definition of that is different anyway.

Believe that you have what it takes to climb that hurdle you are trying to overcome and win. You have what it takes.

“Now let’s get going!”  xo Sally

What Happiness Depends On

Think of your strengths.  Think of your progress.  Think of where you are going.  Think of your goals.

Don’t allow yourself to talk yourself out of where your gifts should be used.  You know what you are good at.  Picture yourself using your skills toward the goals you have.

Spend today with a positive focus.  Prepare for the week ahead by developing your awareness of what you can accomplish.  If the first goal you try for passes you by, that is not a failure.

Life prepares you to succeed, if you let it.

You are amazing.  You are a gift from God.  Believe it!

Memory Management Tip

Do you have problems with your memory?  One of the most effective ways of dealing with memory challenges is to keep your sense of humor.

Whether you are the one with the memory challenges or you are caring for someone who struggles with remembering things, implement ways to manage your situation, to keep from losing your ability to stay calm.

Here is one idea:  Get a small white board at the local office supply store and put it on the front of your refrigerator.  Every morning write the day, the date, and what is happening that day.  If you are meeting friends for dinner at 6 p.m. write it on the board.

Every time you are asked (again), “what time are we going to dinner?” direct the person to the white board, so the habit of going to the board becomes a routine.  It can become the place to get the answers for the day…rather than having to answer the same question over and over.

There are more ideas to manage forgetfulness…let me know if you are interested!  “Now, let’s get going!”  xo Sally

Dealing With Rejection

Rejection comes in all forms.  Sometimes when we “feel” rejected, it is just the way we have chosen to perceive what has happened.  We don’t look at the big picture.  We get caught in a mix of confusion regarding what is happening and what we think is happening.

Whether at work or at home, when you are forced to recognize that your actions, your suggestions, your thoughts and even your beliefs appear to be minimized by those around you, stop for a minute and think about it.

What you may be experiencing is just a temporary impression that “you” are being rejected because your suggestions or your desires are not shared fully by the rest of your family or coworkers.  It most likely is not you as a person, but you may feel like it.  Stop yourself from going there.

Realize that your goals and your thoughts are usually directly related to your beliefs.  It is important to be firmly planted in beliefs that are positive and promote good. If you tend to be negative you need to work on seeing the positive.  Be still and listen to those around you.  If you are the positive one and you find yourself surrounded by negativity, consider that your sign to move on to the next best thing!                                                                                                                                                                                               “Now, let’s get going!”  xo Sally

Choosing Difficult Paths

Aging has at least one thing going for it; you get experience.

While we are “growing up,” which is something I continue to do every day, I can think back on times in my life when I thought that taking on a challenge was exciting, and it was just that; a challenge.  I came from the school of thought that challenges formed you and basically made you into something better; someone stronger.  Challenges do make you stronger, and you learn a great deal about yourself when you are managing a challenge, regardless of what it is.

They say that you get experience when you did not get what you wanted.

Embrace the experience.  Enjoy your journey.  Learn as you go.  Realize that challenges you take on, you ultimately pay for.

Positive and negative outcomes aside, the beauty of experience is feeling peace within you, and not necessarily needing to prove yourself to others.  You’ve been there.  You’ve done that.  Allow yourself to enjoy your journey through life.  Start today.

Choose To Be Happy

You can choose to be happy.  You may not feel that your present circumstances allow you to be happy, but happiness is a state of mind.

It may seem that you are up to your neck in debt, or you may be dealing with a family member’s aging or ill health, or both…and that you have nothing in your life to look forward to…but you do.

You have the power.  You can change your attitude.  You can look for the good side.  Decide what you are learning from your present situation.  Realize that it is temporary.  Make a plan to change your current situation and think of steps you can take to get there.  You have the power.

No one has control over how you think or feel.  When you think negatively – negative feelings continue.  Think positive thoughts – positive energy WILL result.  Work on this for the next few days and let me know what happens!   “Now, let’s get going” xo Sally
