Sharps Disposal Program:

State of Florida Sharps Disposal Information

The Bay Area Sharps Disposal Program is made possible by the participation of the disposal sites

listed in this brochure. Each of these disposal sites has volunteered to provide this service to the

community, free of any cost to you.But it is your cooperation that is essential to the success ofthis program. In order to make the program run smoothly, it is important that you adhere to following guidelines.

Attempt to use the disposal site only during the hours listed in the insert.

Do not bring sharps to the disposal sites in anything other than the approved sharpscontainers provided by the site.

 

Always make sure your container is properly sealed. The disposal site has the right to refuse

any improperly packaged containers in order to protect the safety of their employees.


When disposing of your filled sharps containers, always give the container to authorizedpersonnel. Never leave the container unattended.

Never dispose of a sharps container in your household waste!

Remember, the disposal sites have voluntarily accepted the burden and cost of disposing this

potentially harmful waste. Encourage their continued support by participating responsibly.

THIS PROGRAM IS BEING PROVIDED FOR THE PRIVATE SECTOR ONLY.

All professionals and businesses are regulated under state and federal biomedical waste laws and may not participate.

Visit one of the disposal sites listed in this brochure during the indicated

hours. Ask for a sharps container and instructions on its use.Take the container home. Keep it out of reach of children.Dispose of your used syringes completely intact into the sharps container.

When the container is approximately ¾ full, permanently close the top following the simple directions on the container. Once closed, return the filled sharps container to any one of the participating disposal sites for proper disposal.
