Recharging your Batteries

Thought for the Day: When you think you have no Energy left to give...You need to Recharge your Batteries!

Also known as …”It’s all about your Energy”

Don’t you wish that these energy drinks could be given intravenously? (not really ?) There are so many things that drain us and zap our energy.  Stress, people, doctors, family, kids, the list goes on.

Here are a few suggestions to help your energy blahs:

  • Evaluate your nutrition, and take an honest look at the fuel you are giving your body….it may need some improvement.
  • Are you taking whatever vitamins you need to be taking, if your nutrition is not all that it is cracked up to be?
  • Are you exercising…at all? Even walking helps release endorphins to improve energy and encourages a sense of well-being, and that includes walking between the bedroom and kitchen too!
  • Get a pedometer and actually see how much you are walking or running around each day.
  • Start to chart your activity and see if you can incorporate some exercises for you, whether you are the patient or care partner.  No one lost points for exercising in a seated position!

Here is the reality:  your body cannot perform well, if it is running on empty.  Tell us what you need help with, associated with taking care of YOU!  If you are going to be “IN IT TO WIN IT, YOU HAVE TO MAKE SOME CHANGES”… unless everything is perfect, then you are doing a great job J!

What is preventing you from doing the right thing to maintain your health?  There are enough books out there to tell you what to do, and I’ll bet you all could tell stories about what you’ve tried and failed at, when working on a diet or your nutrition.  But this isn’t about what we did that didn’t work.  We have to develop a plan that WILL WORK for you and for so many others out there that need support from YOU, to believe that they have what it takes to be better.

Tell us your stories on our blog, or through Contact US.  We want to help you make the difference for you!

Thought For The Day

  • Keep Going
"If you're going through hell, keep going."Winston Churchill When it feels like you are living your worst nightmare, you probably are. After all, for most people experience is what you get, when you weren’t expecting the result you were looking for. Everyone has a different level of spirituality. I personally think that being spiritual is very helpful when we are doing our…

  • The Relationship Between Humans And Loud Music
While out walking our dogs with a neighbor on a warm, autumn Sunday morning, we discussed plans for the day. She mentioned she and her husband were going to the theater that evening to hear a New Orleans jazz trombone player and his ensemble. My husband’s ears perked up, as…

  • What is a probate and why do I want to avoid it?
Many times, clients come into my office stating that they need to have Last Will and Testaments done and at the same time, they tell me they want to avoid probate of their estate after they die. These clients are usually very adamant that they do not want the government to get their assets, they do not want their families…

Testimonials

I would like to comment on Sally as an occupational therapist, from our experience with my wife Janet who suffered a very crippling stroke 15 years ago. Janet had therapy in the hospital where I could see no advance in her condition. After the hospital discharge we were recommended to another physical therapist in Port Charlotte, and this also produced no changes that we could see. Janet, my wi...

Sally has been of tremendous help to us. She has done so much to make our home safer for my husband, even picking up equipment that he needed and delivering it to us. When we had some grab bars installed, she came here to see that they were placed in the right position. Plus, she has worked to see that my husband gets the right therapy.. Once she even drove us to Punta Gorda to see my husband's...

  • When Behavior Changes
When Behavior Changes Being a caregiver is a challenge, when the behavior of your loved one involves confusion, and behavioral changes. • General Florida Medicaid Information
General Florida Medicaid Information With all of the changes that are taking place in healthcare we need to realize that Medicaid and Medicare are changing too. What we know at this time is that Medicaid is continuing to remain in place for patients from age 0- 20, and will pay for rehabilitation during that time period, when prescribed by their treating medical professionals. The…

  • Managing Medications
Managing Medications It is becoming more frequent to see medications distributed in blister packs, rather than in pill bottles. Skilled nursing facilities and other medical facilities tend to use them to avoid medication distribution errors. For the elderly, this packaging style can be very difficult to manage, if the person has problems with fine motor or hand coordination and/or arthritis. If you…

Medical Conditions

  • Do You Have Breathing Problems?
Do You Have Breathing Problems? I think that we would all agree that breathing is essential to living.  When our bodies do not get enough oxygen, what happens? The most common reaction to a lack of oxygen is a sensation of panic, because our brain is very smart.  Our brains tell our lungs to respond with small, quick breaths to compensate for the feeling that we do not have…
