A Concert For One
Can you think of a moment in your life that you were surprised by someone’s kindness or noticed the willingness of a stranger’s deed, that brought happiness or help to someone in need?
Those types of memories bring more than a smile. The experience gives us a connection to other people in a way that surpasses our daily experience, and helps us visualize the reality that people can be the gateway to another person’s hope.
We all have the capability to be that person for someone else. You may not have money or much time to do more than you do each day, but you need to realize what a gift you can be to someone else who is hurting. A simple smile. An understanding thoughtful pause, when you let another person go ahead of you in line in a grocery store, because they have kids with them that are tired and fussy. Allowing a person to go ahead of you in traffic because they are obviously in a bigger hurry than you are, are all simple examples of random acts of kindness that you can give another person. They don’t cost a thing. They require understanding and a sense of awareness that the person you are looking at needs to know that their situation is recognized and supported by you.
You don’t need to know the person. You don’t need a thank you. You need compassion and a chance to realize that you have a gift to give to someone every day. It is your gift of kindness.
Watch and share this video over the weekend and let’s start to think about how you handle your next opportunity to show kindness to someone you do not know.

I personally think that being spiritual is very helpful when we are doing our…

With all of the changes that are taking place in healthcare we need to realize that Medicaid and Medicare are changing too. What we know at this time is that Medicaid is continuing to remain in place for patients from age 0- 20, and will pay for rehabilitation during that time period, when prescribed by their treating medical professionals. The…
It is becoming more frequent to see medications distributed in blister packs, rather than in pill bottles. Skilled nursing facilities and other medical facilities tend to use them to avoid medication distribution errors. For the elderly, this packaging style can be very difficult to manage, if the person has problems with fine motor or hand coordination and/or arthritis. If you…
I think that we would all agree that breathing is essential to living. When our bodies do not get enough oxygen, what happens? The most common reaction to a lack of oxygen is a sensation of panic, because our brain is very smart. Our brains tell our lungs to respond with small, quick breaths to compensate for the feeling that we do not have…
